On a sunny Monday, jammily sandwiched between wet and dreary Spring days Robyn and Josh had their wedding day at Sopley Mill near Christchurch.
We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days, starting with morning preps at Sopley Mill where Robyn and her Bridal Party multi-tasked decorating the venue before getting themselves ready. Meanwhile, Ian headed over to the Fisherman’s Haunt pub to meet Josh before the civil ceremony at the Mill.
After the ceremony we had some time to take a few group shots before wandering around the grounds with the Bride and Groom before their wedding breakfast.

And so we start 2017…
We had the pleasure of joining Amy & Luke for their wedding last week. Their whole day took place at Sopley Mill with Amy and her bridal party also getting ready there.
We were very spoilt by the beautiful, unexpected warm Winter’s day. You never would have guessed this was a February wedding – especially as for the week before we had to wrap in our Arctic coats for just a short wedding prep shoot.
It was lovely to work again alongside Caroline and Elke from Amazing Face – who always do a great job with make-up and hair. And we were also excited to see the van of Joey from The Wild Fox parked outside in the morning who we’ve had our eye on for a while and who did an impeccable job with her seasonal, textured blooms. Finishing off the details Amy put a great amount of effort in before the day practising her calligraphy and wrote out all the table cards herself as well as baking the cake.
Although the day was warm the evening made sure to remind us it was in fact Winter. However, with that quick drop in temperature came a beautiful, cloudless evening where we had great fun experimenting with mobile phone lights and Amy & Luke’s LED balloons before heading back upstairs for some disco fun.… Read Full Post
We joined Jo & Ricky for their wedding day at Sopley Mill which took place just before Bonfire Night.
It was a classic Autumn day and really what you would expect from November – cold and wet. But there’s always something special and cosy about a seasonal wedding.
Luckily, with three floors of the Mill to explore and call their own the guests were happily tucked up inside for the most part. Although the scope for venturing around the grounds for photos was short-lived we were happy the rain stopped just when we needed it to (and Jo’s friend was happy to lend her some boots to save her pretty shoes in the mud).
The ceremony was conducted by the Bride and Groom’s friend, Rahul who did a great job as Celebrant.
Sadly, Rhubarb the cat wasn’t able to be invited. But she did have a great time playing with my shoes and laces during the morning preparations at Jo & Ricky’s home.

This summer wedding took place at Sopley Mill on a beautiful, warm and sunny August day.
The Bridal party started their day at The Manor Hotel in Christchurch where the bridal party had their hair and make-up expertly put together by Laura Mackenzie and Tara Sanger.
A short drive away, the Groomsmen got ready at Sopley Mill, hopping over the road to the pub before greeting guests ready for their ceremony.
Downstairs, the room for the wedding breakfast was decorated as if it were a magical woodland with lots of fresh, green foliage put together by Beyond The Gate florists. The Tolkien-inspired wedding tables were really magical and the decorations were so thoughtful.
After dinner we took the opportunity to hop over to the bridge behind the mill for some photos whilst guests enjoyed the early evening sun. The setting that evening really was beautiful and horses meandered lazily in the hazy background.
We’ve worked with the groom’s family before, shooting his uncle’s wedding back in 2012. If Jess & Uncle Dan proved anything at that wedding it was how much their family like to dance, and once again the dance floor filled very nicely, encouraged by the Bride and Groom’s slow First Dance with a surprise, energetic ending!… Read Full Post
The countryside seems to have burst into life the past couple of weeks. Everything’s looking so lush and we’ve been treated to some beautiful days. Where better to kick off wedding season proper then than in the middle of it all? And as a bonus we spent the day with a lovely bunch of people for our first visit to Sopley Mill.
John & Katherine spent their entire wedding day there with a civil ceremony, drinks reception and evening entertainment making use of all three floors.
The day started with the Bride and Groom getting ready separately just a short drive away from Christchurch.
Hampshire Registrars conducted the ceremony and gave the wedding party time to have an Oasis sing-a-long.
Outside the weather was lovely and warm all day, meaning folks could really enjoy the fantastic setting for drinks, games and an evening buffet.
And when it was time for portraits we made our way to the nearby fields to capture the magic of Golden Hour. The light really set off Katherine’s beautiful Jenny Packham dress and jewellery.

So far Sopley Mill has escaped us. So it was with pleasure we met up with Katherine and John to finally take a ganders inside. It really is a very characterful place and we’re looking forward to joining them for their day.
I probably don’t have to tell you how crazy the weather has been lately. Just before we set off to meet Katherine and John we were subjected to violent thunder, lightning and hail.
But we’re getting pretty good at sensing when it’s worth battling through and when rubbish weather is going to be short-lived. And sure enough it proved to be a lovely evening wandering around the grounds.
