Ali & Gary’s Civil Wedding at Northbrook Park, Surrey – Day Two

Following on from a Hindu Wedding Ceremony – Day One

A Hindu Ceremony starts early but also finishes quite early in the day. So after the end of Day One everyone was able to relax in their cottages with family and friends and get a good night’s kip before it was time to do it all over again.

So… Day Two – The Civil Ceremony. We arrived back at Northbrook Park to the sound of the fire alarms going off, triggered by burnt sausages. Already this day had a very different vibe! The weather was pretty dismal all day, but the chances of lucking out on two sunny days the way things are at the moment would have been pretty phenomenal.

It really did feel like everyone had started afresh. There was a renewed level of excitement seeing everyone in their new frocks and as the ceremony rooms were switched around it really felt like we were somewhere new.

Ali & Gary’s Hindu Wedding Ceremony at Northbrook Park, Surrey – Day One

This was a first for us; Our first Hindu wedding ceremony, first two-day wedding and our largest at around 300 guests.

Ali and Gary celebrated both days at Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey with a Hindu ceremony on the Sunday and a Civil ceremony the following day.

We were very excited and honoured to be part of both days. It was a real treat to experience a Hindu ceremony for the first time and there were so many wonderful sights, sounds and smells. Our camera bags still smell of incense!

We first met Ali and Gary when we photographed Ali’s sister’s wedding last year, closer to home at Parley Manor, and it was lovely to see a lot of the same crowd again.

A Hindu Ceremony starts very early in the morning, so we were there bright and breezy to capture all the important preparations at the venue’s cottages. According to the ladies who helped Ali get ready in the morning, it’s not uncommon for them to have to set off 3am. Blimey.

There was a lot to capture in the morning. As well as the usual bridal preps there were some important rituals for Gary including a hat fitting by his Dad and a prayer and blessing from his aunts.… Read Full Post
