Kirsten & Duncan’s Back Garden Wedding near Glastonbury, Somerset

Kirsten & Duncan’s Back Garden Wedding was a spectacularly thoughtful day, with so many beautiful DIY touches and a real festival feel.

A paddock next to the Groom’s Mums house was cleared to play host to an impressive marquee. Being extra resourceful this grass was transformed into hay bales for guests to sit and enjoy the warm Summer’s Day under the shade of an apple tree.

The day started with Kirsten and her bridal party getting ready at their home in Somerton before heading towards Glastonbury for a wedding at St Mary’s and All Saint’s Church in Meare. The very church Kirsten’s Mum and Dad also got married in.

They definitely didn’t have the same vicar though as Kirsten and Duncan’s Wedding was his first!

After a spot of confetti guests then made the drive over to Low Ham near Langport to spend the rest of the day eating ice creams, playing ping pong, darts and dancing.

At one point in the day we headed off to a nearby Orchard which Kirsten and Duncan had asked permission for us to take some photos in.

The marquee was really something special – bright but cosy, helped along by good honest grub provided by Pieminister.… Read Full Post

Kirsten & Duncan’s Wedding Prep in Glastonbury

Kirsten and Duncan are celebrating their wedding next month with a church ceremony in the village of Meare near Glastonbury followed by a back garden reception.

We headed over to Somerset last week to have a little tour, a bit of a recce and a stop off to take some prep shots in a little National Trust woodland a short drive away.

They have some great plans in place for a lovely day and are currently in the process of clearing a paddock for their marquee to be held in. We’re also keeping our fingers crossed for permission to hop into a nearby apple orchard on the day for their couple shoot which is conveniently a short hop away from their reception.

Family Shoot at Chaffeymoor Grange

A couple of weeks ago Lindsay at Chaffeymoor Grange asked us to pop over to take some portraits shots of her family. Her Mum had a very special birthday coming up and to celebrate her family were joining in on a big party. Making the most of everyone being together we helped them out with some group shots as a momento.

We are lucky enough to have worked at Chaffeymoor Grange a lot of the years and Lindsay and Rik have worked hard to make it one of the most welcoming and special venues. We have shot plenty of different styles of wedding there including an evening wedding. The beautiful Oak Room is always a pleasure to shoot in and as a special treat it was sparkling with Christmas decorations by the very talented florist, Sabine Darrall.

Here are just a few photos from our short evening shoot.

Caroline and James’ Wedding in Milborne Port & Stockbridge Farm Barn

Caroline and James’ wedding was a real treat, full of lots of personal details and a very friendly and energetic crowd. There was an awful lot of dancing and singing during this wedding and we were impressed by everyone’s stamina!

Oh.. before we carry on, a special mention should be made to James’ Mum who grew all the flowers for this wedding at home, by seed and made all the bouquets and buttonholes. We were blown away by her amazing garden and floristry skills.

Their ceremony took place in James’ home town, Milborne Port in Somerset at Milborne Port Parish Church. It was a service full of music with a worship band filling the church with sound and enthusiastic sing-a-longs.

After this everyone made their way over to the Dorset border to Stockbridge Farm Barn for the wedding reception.

Guests were treated to a Fish & Chip supper for the wedding breakfast (which went down exceptional well.. who doesn’t love fish and chips?) eaten from personalised trays. And for afters guests were encourage to take part in a Bake Off. There was so much cake of all different shapes, sizes and flavours and enough to fed everyone five times over!

To work off all those sponges and chips there was an excellent, fun Ceilidh dance in the evening, with music provided by local folk band Teasing the Cat.… Read Full Post

Sarah and Adam’s Wedding at Priston Mill

After what seemed like a lengthy winter (mostly spent carrying a hot water bottle) the first signs of Spring were very welcome and the daffodils cropping up reminded us that Sarah and Adam’s wedding (our first of 2015) was not far away.

Embracing the vibrant colours of Spring, with a bright yellow and blue colour palette, Sarah and Adam made the most of their March wedding at Priston Mill near Bath. It was warm enough to play outside, and despite the early weather forecast warning of Gales and heavy rain, the day was lovely.

Things started near Bath City Centre where both Sarah and Adam got ready about a half hour drive from the venue for their day.

The day had a travel theme as plenty of guests had travelled a fair way to help them celebrate. As well as a great table plan, Adam’s brother designed some fantastic paper details including table names, Save the Dates and invitations.

We’ve been to Priston Mill a couple of times now and have always regretted not being able to make it over the the adjoining field that sits next to the Tythe Barn. Unfortunately, there’s not really any way of making it over there without crossing a Brook.… Read Full Post

Tia and Phil’s Wedding at Chaffeymoor Grange

It was a bit of a whirlwind week for Phil and Tia. They flew in from their home city of Jakarta after their Indonesian ceremony to stay with relatives in Dorset before embarking on their UK ceremony.

In the short time they were here we met up with them for a prep shoot on the beach in Sandbanks before joining them over in Bourton for their second wedding ceremony at Chaffeymoor Grange.

The day was a small and intimate affair with many staying over at the house for the weekend. In that time though, we were treated to two wedding dresses by Tia (both of which travelled as hand luggage over from Indonesia).

Here are some photos from their day…

Jonathan and Claire’s Wedding at Priston Mill

Jonathan and Claire got married at Priston Mill with their ceremony and reception held in the Tythe Barn.

The day started with both of them getting ready close to the city centre of Bath. Claire and her Bridesmaids in particular had a perfect view from high on a hill as they got ready in the lovely Bath View Apartments.

Throughout the day VWs played a special part as Claire loves them. As well as a camper van driving the bridal party from Bath to Priston Mill, Jonathan also made his way to the Barn in a convertible Beetle.

Hannah and Tom’s Wedding at Manor Farm, Somerset

Hannah and Tom’s wedding took place on their family Dairy farm in Emborough, Somerset. Well, technically, their wedding was held in the (now retired) The Blessed Virgin Mary church, but you could be forgiven for thinking this was in the farm. It’s so close to the farm house you could invite the vicar in for tea by shouting out of the window.

Having sought special permission to hold their ceremony in the church, the marquee was set up at the front of the farm house, packed full of beautiful flowers and was carefully put together by the co-ordinator for the day, Steph from Sweet and Pretty.

We had worked closely with Tom and Hannah before the wedding as Ian (with his Swash and Fold hat on) designed the Invitations, Orders of Service, Menus and Table Settings stationery. I also spent some time hand-lettering the table names and other titles, which Ian then incorporated into the design. It was lovely to be able to see it all being used and photograph it on the day.

There was a fun, country fete feel to this wedding with an energetic Ceilidh for evening entertainment and hay bales to lounge on in the evening whilst guests tucked into Pulled Pork Rolls from Hannah and Tom’s very own Good Life Pork Co.… Read Full Post

Lydia and Andy’s Wedding at St Stephen’s and Chaffeymoor Grange

Lydia and Andy pulled out all the stops for their Hollywood-themed wedding which took place at St Stephen’s Church in Wincanton and Chaffeymoor Grange in Bourton. Guests were instructed to dress for the red carpet in the hope of winning one of the coveted “Best Dressed” awards (as voted via ballot during the drinks reception).

Andy, the Groom went for a Big Screen look complete with Spats and cane whilst Lydia glammed it up with poster red lips and a slinky low-back dress. Frank Sinatra made an appearance and popcorn was available for the interval.

Hannah and Tom’s Wedding Prep Shoot in Emborough, Somerset

We made our way to Emborough in Somerset last week to meet up with Hannah and Tom at their family farm last week.

So many couples spend months hunting for the perfect open space to hold their wedding. They have this all and a beautiful church a stone’s throw from their doorstep.

We’d already learnt quite a bit about Hannah and Tom’s wedding having been lucky enough to design their custom invitations and map a few months back with our Swash and Fold hats on, so had a good sense of the day and the sort of approach they were going for. Being given a tour of the farm as we took some photos for their prep was a real treat and brought everything to life.

The weather was insane – in one direction the sky was bruised with charcoal grey, thick cloud yet Hannah and Tom were often illuminated by the evening sun shining away, often leading to huge rainbows that spanned the length of the landscape. We dived in and out whenever it wasn’t hammering it down. Thankfully, Hannah and Tom were one couple we felt didn’t need to reminding to bring wellies – sure enough, they had stack loads of them!… Read Full Post

Lydia and Andy’s Wedding Prep near Stourhead

We’ve shot weddings at Chaffeymoor Grange many times before, but so far have yet to explore any of the pretty surrounding churches nearby. Last week we made our way around the winding roads near Bourton, weaving in and out of Dorset and Somerset to visit St Stephen’s Church where Lydia and Andy are getting married. After their ceremony they’ll be making their way back to Chaffeymoor for a party in the grounds of the house. They have lots of lovely things planned.

We left behind a blue-skied Bournemouth and drove into an increasingly murky land. None of us really knew where we were, but we’d spotted a convenient woodland walk after a bit of investigative Ordnance Survey and Google mapping so headed there. We used the spooky-looking King Alfred’s Tower as a landmark. So spooky was it in fact, we didn’t feel it appropriate for a pre-wedding shoot as it stood shrouded in mist and we pegged it as far as we could in the opposite direction.

Here are some photos from our walk…

Hannah and Mark’s Wedding at Priston Mill, Bath

Hannah and Mark got married recently with a full day held at the Tythe Barn at Priston Mill, near Bath. Hannah got ready in the morning at a lovely cottage on Withy Mills Farm surrounding by fields and cows. Whilst Mark got ready at a nearby Pub and made his way to the Mill in a Defender Land Rover – which, as it turns out, couldn’t have been a better choice of transport.

The weather wasn’t kind with some very heavy rain making things a little tricky in the morning. Hannah’s Vintage VW almost went for a swim down a flooded country lane. However, with some nifty diversions and the cool, calm and collected manner of the ace LoveDub Weddings things soon got back on track. Unfortunately, it was a bit too damp to do many shots outside for the majority of the day but the cosy and spacious interiors of Priston Mill and a roaring fire helped things considerably.

They embraced the Autumn feel of their wedding with plenty of lovely orange, red and peach blooms and rustic wooden details, including one of the loveliest table seating plans we’ve seen.

Here are some photos from their day…
