Becky & James’ Wedding at Mortons House Hotel

A week after the snow cleared in Dorset Becky and James were lucky enough to hold their wedding on a Spring-like day at Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle.

We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days, heading up around noon to meet up for pre-wedding preps, taking in the ceremony and finally, wandering down to Corfe Train Station platform for a few photos before leaving the happy couple to enjoy their wedding breakfast and evening with family and friends.

Josh & Emily’s Wedding in Swanage and Corfe Castle, Dorset

If there was ever a wedding to epitomise what our Short & Sweet wedding days are perfect for it’s Emily & Josh’s.

They got married on an autumn day in Swanage with a small number of family and friends and we tagged along for a couple of hours.

Popping in to see Josh in his holiday cottage on the way we started coverage during the wedding ceremony at Holy Spirit & St Edward’s church before making way to Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle for their drinks reception.

Emily and Josh wrapped up their wedding day by tea-time and spent their evening enjoying some peace and quiet in their pretty little holiday cottage in the shadow of Corfe Castle.

After their meal we walked down together before we went home to take some photos on the platform of the Swanage Railway station. Sadly, the steam train had been cancelled for the day but this may have been a blessing in disguise as it meant there were no crowds and we had the freedom to wander and soak up the fabulous atmosphere.

Ali & Helen’s Wedding at Poole Guildhall & Shell Bay, Studland

Helen and Ali had us along for one of our Short & Sweet days recently taking in their morning preps, wedding ceremony and drinks reception. The morning started off with bridal preps at the lovely Hotel Du Vin in Poole, where we worked alongside our friends Amazing Face.

Their ceremony took place at Poole Guildhall just a short drive away from the hotel. The morning had been lovely and sunny but as soon as Helen and her Bridesmaid’s opened the door to walk down the aisle to “Here Comes The Sun” the heavens opened and it absolutely poured it down.

It was so torrential entire wedding party had to squeeze in to the bottom floor of the open top bus to take the over the Sandbanks Ferry to Studland as the bus to the stairs acted as a waterfall. It took everyone really by surprise and hadn’t been forecast at all but was a fun and memorable moment.

Ali and Helen had a drier ride in Dorset Dub Hire’s VW Camper sipping champagne to Shell Bay Restaurant with a brief stop at Evening Hill along the way.

After a bit of drinks reception we then made our way over to the beach at Studland for a few photos of the newlyweds before leaving them to enjoy their food and the rest of their day overlooking Brownsea Island.… Read Full Post

Clem & Ben’s Wedding at St Nicholas Church & Harry Warren House, Studland

We can’t think of a wedding party better suited to deal with such a bonker’s British Summer’s day. We spent a large part of it (sometimes unsuccessfully) dodging heavy showers with thick black clouds. But no sooner had we resigned ourselves to snuggling in the marquee the sun would make an appearance and tempt everyone out for impromptu races and deckchair sitting again.

A spot of rain wasn’t going to hold back Clem and her bridal party walking from The Pig on the Beach where they stayed and got ready in the morning, through the little country lanes to St Nicholas where their ceremony took place.

Led by a fiddler procession the wedding party made their way to Harry Warren House for fun and frolics where their reception was held.

Making the most of the location the wedding had a seaside theme with carefully crated details and Clem’s hand-painted peep-through.

Later on, when the clouds cleared for good, we all made our way down to the beach to mess around by the water before heading back up for dancing and chips in the marquee.

Kirsty & Alun’s Wedding at St Nicholas Church & Harry Warren House, Studland

On a beautiful, sunny Saturday we boarded the ferry over to Studland to join Kirsty and Alun for their wedding. They’d travelled down from London to make the most of the unbeatable views and idyllic village life in our favourite Purbeck village.

As they’d hired a cottage for the week to enjoy a bit of downtime after the wedding Kirsty and her entourage got ready here helped by hair and make-up artist, Lorraine Milligan.

Meanwhile, after a meet-up at the Bankes Arms and The Pig on the Beach Alun and his Groomsmen made his way to St Nicholas Church for the ceremony. It’s one of our favourite churches for its friendly and accommodating approach and its convenient little hidden photographer nook in a priviledged position at the front.

Kirsty and Alun’s baby girl joined them for the ceremony and even got to enjoy the confetti run before spending a chilled day with her Nanny so her Mum and Dad could party! We hope she loves looking through these photos when she’s older so she can see the part she played in the day.

After a short walk from the church guests enjoyed the sunny views of Harry Warren House in its spectacular location overlooking Old Harry Rocks, Poole Bay, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight.… Read Full Post

Liz & Shane’s Wedding at Mortons House Hotel & Swanage Railway

Liz and Shane’s wedding took place at Morton’s House Hotel in Corfe Castle, Dorset. It was a small and intimate occasion with close family and friends (and their beautiful and well-behaved dog, Winnie).

We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days starting with morning preps at the hotel and Corfe Castle National Trust tearooms right through to their arrival for tea and cake and the Birds Nest Buffet car at Swanage Train Station. It was such a wonderful, fun day.

In the middle of this celebration there was a fantastic train ride taking the wedding party by Swanage Railway Steam Train from Corfe to the reception venue. Shane had previously been a volunteer helping put this line back on the tourist map and Winnie had been on the train before and knew how to stamp her own ticket!

Along the way everyone enjoyed the view and a cheeky little tipple to toast the newlyweds.

Becky and Sam’s Wedding at Lady St Mary Church and Wareham Rugby Club

Becky and Sam worked very hard to plan and co-ordinate their wedding. Very much a ‘Do-It-Yourself’ affair they arranged for a marquee to be set up at Swanage & Wareham RFC. They decorated the tent themselves (with Sam’s sister penning all of the signage and doing a superb job of it too). Bournemouth-based Recruitment agency, Platinum was used to hire waiting staff for the day and Sam’s uncle of NCP Catering Solutions dished up the food.

The day started with guests gathering at the Rugby Club for a pre-ceremony drink whilst Becky and her Bridesmaids got ready at Becky’s Dad’s home. After a short drive to Wareham the ceremony took place at Lady St. Mary.

Becky and Sam had arranged for us to spend some time in The Priory‘s gardens next to the Church for some photos whilst guests made their way back to the Rugby Club for the afternoon reception.

Once there, the day and evening was very relaxed. People had fun playing croquet on the field and things got competitive on the Table Tennis table.

After dinner guests enjoyed dancing and shaking tambourines to the tunes of local musician, Jim Etherington.

Matt and Bethan’s Wedding at Lulworth Castle

Matt and Bethan held their wedding day at Lulworth Castle recently with their family and friends.

It was a day packed full of colour. The bridal party dressed in bright pink, navy and turquoise with flowers to match. And to polish things off the wedding breakfast room was adorned with extra colourful details, bright tablecloths and a blooming amazing cake.

Morning preparations started a short drive away in West Lulworth as Matt and Bethan had holiday cottages rented for the weekend, then the rest of the day was spent at at the Castle.

Their wedding had a wine theme. The seating plan came in the form of a wine rack and each table had its own different bottle of wine, collected by them on their travels. Matt gave a great intro to some of these different boozes during his speech. It was a wonderful idea and lovely to give each table something unique.

Matt and Bethan’s Wedding Prep Shoot in Lulworth Cove

Matt and Bethan are getting married soon with both their ceremony and wedding reception taking place at Lulworth Castle.

They’re going to be making a weekend of it with guests travelling down to Dorset to spend time in West Lulworth and Lulworth Cove.

We met up with them on a bright and breezy Sunday to talk through their wedding timings and go on a little wander around the Cove. There was a crazy high tide meaning we were quite stuck in the cove but we managed to manoeuvre our way around without getting swept away.

Kate and Alex’s Wedding at Rempstone Farm, Corfe Castle

Family and friends from Brazil and New Zealand made their way to a field in Dorset for Kate and Alex’s wedding at a friend’s farm – Cedar Organic near Corfe Castle.

Their ceremony was conducted by a Pastor in the luscious outdoors of the farm. A lovely Tipi from the folks at World Inspired Tents provided the setting for the reception.

This really was a hands-on wedding. Many friends helped on the day to ensure the day ran smoothly taking on a number of jobs including floristry, bar-keeping, cocktail making and Toast-Mastering. They made an excellent job of it.

Here are some photos from their day…

Anthea and Graham’s Wedding at Lulworth Castle

Anthea and Graham got married last week in the pretty little Chapel within the grounds of Lulworth Castle, followed by a reception and party inside the castle itself.

In the morning, Anthea and her bridesmaids got ready at the lovely Limestone Hotel, whilst Graham prepped for the morning in the nearby Weld Arms.

The wedding was packed full of classic and pretty details but most importantly it was a day focussed on celebrating with family and friends. The speeches were heartwarming, there were lots of thoughtful touches throughout the day and it was obvious everyone had a fantastic time and enjoyed spending the day together.

We woke up to rain hammering down on our roof. The report for the day wasn’t looking good at all – it often poured it down but every time we wanted to go outside it cleared up – just like magic!

As well as the ace and professional team at Lulworth Castle, special mention should go to the Blunter Brothers for providing fantastic entertainment. They really were top notch and we enjoyed listening to some less obvious wedding tunes. They inspired many a dance-off and at one point we got trapped inside a Conga circle.… Read Full Post

Kate & Alex’s Wedding Prep Shoot in Corfe

Kate and Alex have such a special spot to hold their wedding – at their friend’s farm – in a prime spot within the rolling hills of Corfe Castle in the Isle of Purbeck. Rempstone Farm is home to Cedar Organic and the herd of Ruby Red North Devon cattle are going to have to get a shift on to make way for the party.

We met up with them this weekend at the farm and walked the short distance to the field where the day’s going to be held. There wasn’t much to look at other than the spectacular view overlooking Poole. However, we’ve seen enough empty venues in our time now (and are used to having to visualise where marquees are going to be) to know it’s going to be a beauty.

Here are some photos from their prep. Thanks for showing us around, Kate and Alex!
