Chris & Sophie’s Wedding at The Domus, Beaulieu

We now announce Wedding Season 2016 is officially OPEN.

We were lucky enough to start this year’s adventures with Chris & Sophie’s intimate Sunday wedding at The Domus in Beaulieu.

The whole day took place within the grounds of the Abbey, with guests meeting up with Chris at the Montagu Arms for pre-ceremony drinks. Meanwhile, Sophie got ready at her Parents’ home, with her Dad driving her to Beaulieu in his Austin Healey.

The day started off very sunny, great for guests to enjoy drinks in the grounds of Abbey. And when the sun went in and the clouds came over The Domus had a roaring fire to keep things nice and cosy.

We loved seeing Chris and Sophie making use of their wedding prep photos, with their own handmade seating plan and signing frame. Sophie’s Mum had even got a special foil balloon made with a shot from their prep shoot to decorate the house in the morning!

Guests enjoyed music from The Daggers in the evening. They always put on a great show and even initially reluctant dancers found it hard to resist stepping onto the dancefloor for a bit of a Twist.

Chris and Sophie’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Beaulieu

Wedding Season is almost upon us and we were excited to meet up with Chris and Sophie on the Easter Weekend. They showed us around the Domus in Beaulieu where they’ll be getting married soon.

The grounds were very busy with lots of families Easter Egg hunting, but we were wise enough to get there early to scope out some nice little spots for photos.

The weather wasn’t great – gloomy and windy. But if the Domus and Beaulieu Abbey looks that impressive one of the drabbest days we’ve seen in a long time then we’re in for a real treat come their wedding day.

Dani and Chris’ Wedding at The Master Builders

Dani and Chris’ wedding took place at one of the most picturesque locations we know – Buckler’s Hard in the Beaulieu Estate. It’s so ridiculously “picture postcard” and a fine example of English heritage it’s the sort of place where a huge pack of Morris Dancers randomly turn up for a “Morris-Off” on the morning of your wedding.

The entire day’s celebrations were held at The Master Builders where the guests had a sunny spring view of the Beaulieu river.

The day was friendly, intimate and relaxed with the Restaurant playing host to both the ceremony and wedding breakfast. Meanwhile, afternoon drinks took place on the terrace to a soundtrack by the Bossard String Quartet.

The day was deceptively windy, so we all got a bit windswept for Dani and Chris’ evening couple shoot in and around Buckler’s Hard. Luckily, there was plenty of gin on offer (made by the Mother of the Bride) to keep everyone cosy as the evening set in.

Here are some photos from the day…

Natasha and Hayden’s Wedding Prep Shoot in the New Forest

We met up with Natasha and Hayden at the weekend. They’re getting married at the lovely Cripps Barn soon near Bibury so we’ll be making our way back up to the Cotswolds to join them.

They live in London so we decided to meet closer to our respective neck of the woods in the New Forest, close to Burley.

There was a little hiccup in that their car didn’t like the journey and refused to start again (it must have been the work of the naughty witches of Burley). So, whilst they waited to be rescued by the AA man we went for a wander around the woods. I’m pleased to report they got out of the shoot and Burley alive and well…

Chris and Dani’s Wedding Prep Shoot in Minstead, New Forest

We met up with Dani and Chris in the New Forest this week to talk through the final plans for their wedding day and go on a little walk around Acres Down. They’re getting married at The Master Builders in Beaulieu next month.

Once again there was a last minute weather dodge as it absolutely hammered it down pretty much as soon as we’d finished our shoot. We’re getting good at forecast watching. Once again wellies were a must!

We chose Acres Down as a rendezvous spot as there was word there should be wild pigs along the woodland walk. Sadly, we didn’t see any sign of them. Maybe they’re not silly enough to be out in the middle of the forest when there’s a storm coming. Here are some photos from our walk…

Lara and Adam’s Wedding at The Master Builders

Lara and Adam’s wedding day was held at The Master Builder’s Hotel in Buckler’s Hard. If you live near the New Forest and have never visited this village before it is worth a day trip. It is such a charming place set alongside the Beaulieu River, packed full of history and a picturesque line of cottages.

The waterside location gave a great backdrop to the day and the Bride, Groom and guests made of the most of having a relaxing morning taking boat trips along the river before getting ready for the wedding in the rooms upstairs.

It was a very warm day and, making good use of the gardens along the riverside, much of it was spent outdoors. This included the wise decision to hold the after dinner speeches al fresco so everyone could keep cool and have a great view of the speakers.

Special mention should go to the band, The Richie Quain Trio who, as well as playing throughout the afternoon reception, put on the best evening entertainment we’ve seen in a long time.

Here are some photos from the day…

Lara and Adam’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Buckler’s Hard

Lara and Adam are getting married soon at The Master Builders Hotel in Buckler’s Hard – a very pretty and unique little spot near Beaulieu in the New Forest. They have a fun, laid-back day planned for their guests and we’re looking forward to spending the day with them.

We met up with them a tranquil evening not long ago for their wedding prep and went for a little wander around the woodlands surrounding Buckler’s Hard and next to the Chocolate Box cottages they have there.

Here are some photos from our evening together…

James and Marcia’s Engagement Shoot in the New Forest

Marcia and James are getting married next year at the grand-looking Trafalgar Park near Salisbury but also opted to have an extended Engagement Shoot in the run-up to their wedding. We met up with them in the New Forest last week and dodged the showers for a couple of hours, weaving in and out of the woodland and getting stuck in boggy pits in our wellies.

We used two different locations for this shoot – the first being the woods on Ornamental Drive and later moving on to the more open Whitefield Moor.

Here are a few favourites of ours from the shoot…

Sara + Mark’s Wedding in Emery Down, Hampshire – Part One

If it wasn’t for Dirty Cash by Stevie V you might not be reading this blog right now, and Sara and Mark wouldn’t be living the life of camper van luxury in Canada (jealous). We also probably wouldn’t know anything about the wonderful venue that is the Minstead Manor Estate. Sara knows all the words to the rap and so impressed was our Mark he just had to get that girl’s number.

Sara and Mark are always out and about whenever they’re not at work. They rack up so many Foursquare points every week it can make a hermit wedding photographer feel a bit embarrassed. They own the most gorgeous Bell Tent and aren’t afraid of camping. So it made absolute sense for them to have a wedding somewhere outdoorsy, with a camp fire, hay bales and Shepherd’s Huts.

Things started in Lyndhurst where I met up with Sara and the girls at Evolve Hairdressers. They’d laid out pastries and strawberries and did an expert job (check out the little plaits on Sara’s bun – love it!). Meanwhile, Ian met up with the boys at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel (mostly to photograph them trying to work out how to put a tie on).… Read Full Post

Sara + Mark’s Wedding Reception at New Forest Outdoor Activity Centre – Part Two

Continued from part one

So the New Forest Outdoor Activity Centre. It’s not somewhere I’d heard of before and certainly wasn’t on my wedding radar. But what a joy it is. In the week it’s a venue set up for team building exercises. There’s a marquee, a little hall that doubles up as a wedding breakfast room, pretty little shepherd’s huts and a fire pit. It’s a perfect venue for a party and the staff that work there are super nice too and make a great cup of tea.

After a little drive in their VW Camper Sara and Mark arrived, welcomed by their second confetti shower of the day.

Their family and friends had made a great team the day before getting the venue decorated with an impressive amount of handmade bunting. There were some expert “crafters” at this wedding, of all different varieties – crochet, sewing, knitting and… errrm… gin. As a load of them were camping over for the night some of them brought the craft projects they were working on along with them. Hence the little montages.

There was also a big gamer presence at this party. As well as the tables being named after consoles there were a lot of Game Boys and PSPs around.… Read Full Post

Caroline and Gary’s Wedding at Eastclose Country House Hotel

We shot our first wedding of 2012 last weekend and it was also our first visit to Eastclose Country House Hotel in the New Forest.

It was a bit of a drizzly day but that didn’t dampen any spirits at all. In the morning the boys kept themselves occupied and away from the hail and the rain by messing with guitars and presenting each other with ceramic elephants…as you do. Meanwhile, Caroline and her bridesmaids got ready in one of the bedrooms upstairs at the hotel along with both Mums.

It was so clear that both sides of the family were so happy to be sharing Caroline and Gary’s wedding day together, especially as Caroline’s close family had flown in all the way from India. There was a lovely party atmosphere right from the word go!

We were booked to stay until the start of the wedding breakfast so that meant we had some time to shoot a bit of the reception party too. Sadly, it was too wet to venture outside so the party enjoyed their drinks in the bar and were entertained by some brilliant sleight-of-hand magic tricks.

Meanwhile, we had a little time to find some nooks and crannies around the hotel to take some shots of Caroline and Gary before they sat down for their wedding Beef Wellington.… Read Full Post

Caroline and Gary’s Wedding Prep at East Close Country Hotel, Christchurch

Caroline and Gary’s wedding is going to be our first of this year and it’ll be here before we can blink. We met up with them this weekend at Eastclose Country Hotel in Christchurch to have a nose about and find out more about their day.

When we weren’t running away from Killer Bees (well.. a bee. But it was quite big and relentlessly menacing) or listening to Gary’s noisy knees (very noisy) we took some photos…
