Rachel & Matt’s Wedding at The Bell Inn, New Forest

We were delighted to start our New Year by joining Rachel & Matt for their wedding at The Bell Inn near Lyndhurst, Hampshire.

Close family and friends had travelled far to celebrate their day with Rachel & Matt with plenty hopping across the pond from Boston, US to join in the fun (and make a good effort in wiping Ringwood Brewery out of Forty-niner Ale).

The ceremony took place at 3pm, so after a leisurely time getting ready in the rooms upstairs (the wedding party had exclusive use of the entire place) we had to keep things super speedy after the ceremony to have any chance of photos outside (and so the Bride and Groom could make it back in time for their surprise choir during the drinks reception). Luckily, we’d already had a chance to scout out a little spot nearby a short walk away and did a little prep ahead to make it look a bit more sparkly.

With the night drawing in early the pub was a great place to batten down the hatches, light the candles and have a cosy night in with good grub and dancing.

Rachel & Matt’s Wedding Prep Shoot in the New Forest

We’re getting our winter woolies at the ready for Rachel and Matt’s wedding in the New Year.

They’re getting married at The Bell Inn near Lyndhurst in the New Forest on what we hope will be a crisp January day. It’s going to be a cosy and intimate midweek wedding and will be a lovely start to 2018 for us.

We met up at the Inn this weekend to have a nose at the pub that will be theirs for the day before heading over to Ornamental Drive near Rhinefield for a walk in the forest.

Chris & Emma’s Wedding at The Master Builders, Beaulieu

Back to the New Forest we headed for Chris & Emma’s wedding at The Master Builders and for once this year there wasn’t a brolly in sight.

It was a beautiful, still and peaceful Summer’s day down by the Beaulieu River.

The morning started with Emma and her bridal party getting ready a short hop away at Bailey’s Hard with a cool Riverside Retreat cabin housing the bridesmaids. Meanwhile Chris and his Groomsmen got ready in one of the cottages at Buckler’s Hard.

Emma and Chris chose to have a ceremony inside the Master Builders with Celebrant Jacqueline Justice leading the proceedings and keeping everything laid-back and personal.

With a potent smelling home brew as their table favours lining stomachs the evening got off to a bang with plenty of dancing and spinning. The band were the exceptional Brando – a bunch of very talented musicians with an incredible full sound.

Chris & Emma’s Wedding Prep in the New Forest

We’re heading back to The Master Builder’s next month to join Emma and Chris for their wedding day by the water-side.

They have some fun plans in place and we’ll be spending the entire day at Buckler’s Hard with them.

We met up for the first time last week in the New Forest to talk through their wedding timings and go on a wander for a little prep shoot.

As we had been to The Master Builders just a few weeks ago we decided to go for a walk in another pretty New Forest area.. revisiting where we had a quick stop-off shoot during Nicola & Ross’ wedding earlier in the year. The day had been a bit grotty but we figured this location would give us the best chance of getting a bit of sunlight!

Nicola & Martin’s Wedding Prep in The New Forest

Nicola and Martin booked us up a while ago and since then we’ve had the pleasure of seeing them as guests at K & Ant’s Wedding at Sopley Mill last year and Ian’s also been working together with them over at Swash and Fold on their invites.

They’re getting married soon at Highcliffe Castle and we’ll be joining them for their whole day there.

It was nice to meet up in person again to talk through their wedding plans. After a catch-up at The White Buck in Burley we made our way to a favourite little haunt of ours – Ornamental Drive in the New Forest.

For the first time though, we crossed the road and went for a wander around the Tall Trees route. It was an almost other-worldly experience in parts. Although the light was a bit harsh as still as it hadn’t quite hit its softer Golden Hour we had fun playing with the dazzling beams and dark shadows in this magical place.

Emma & Ben’s Wedding at The Master Builders

Emma and Ben’s wedding was held at The Master Builders at the weekend. It was a double ceremony bonanza. All hopes were placed on the main ceremony, conducted by their friend, being held outside. Immediately after this, the marriage was made legal by visiting Registrars and a second, smaller ceremony held inside the venue.

Despite quite a downpour near where Emma was getting ready in the morning, the weather luckily held off over Buckler’s Hard and Plan A was put into place!

Whilst the second ceremony took place many of of the guests enjoyed a drinks reception outside, shortly followed by the Bride and Groom.

Being keen skiers there was a bit of a summer alpine theme to the day with sledges propping up flower pots and old skis making up the frame for the seating plan. Guests were also treated to hot chocolate and cake early on in the day, with speeches held in the early evening.

Dinner was served in a large marquee and we were impressed with how much space there was, previously only ever attending weddings there held inside.

For the evening reception guests gathered back indoors and danced the night away to the tunes of Atlantica.… Read Full Post

Ross & Nicola’s Church & Barn Wedding at Barford Park, Salisbury

Settle down with a cup of tea and a slice of cake ready to look through the photos from Ross & Nicola’s wedding day last week. It’s a biggy (so you’ll be pleased of some refreshments) but there’s a point in this post where you’ll definitely be drooling after cake.

The day was action-packed, taking in three beautiful venues and a whole host of wonderful, thoughtful details. We knew there would be plenty in store and we had a sneak preview of what was planned as Ian helped design the wedding stationery with his Swash and Fold hat on, including invites from the day (for which I cut out (what felt like) a million records on a rotary cutter… but that’s another story, which you can read about, here).

We were lucky enough to start our 12-hour day at The Pig in Brockenhurst. This is one of our favourite places and it always has such a beautiful atmosphere and we can’t think of a better place to start a wedding day. We know we’re due to shoot more bridal preps later in the year at The Pig on The Beach in Studland but if anyone’s thinking of having a wedding here… you know… here’s the Contact Us page 😉

It was lovely to work alongside the very talented ladies, Caroline and Elke from Amazing Face, who did a superb job on hair and Nicola’s make-up.… Read Full Post

Georgia & Toby’s Wedding Prep Shoot in the New Forest

We met up with Georgia and Toby on a blustery and rainy day.

They’re getting married next month at Barford Park and after showing us around the venue for the first time we drove through the New Forest in search of a sheltered spot for photos.

The weather was so diabolical but we were so determined to get some shots whilst Georgia and Toby were visiting Hampshire for the weekend. The shelter of the forest helped us power through as well as the sight of a few cute, if damp, wild Donkeys.

Here’s what we came up with…

Andrew and Eleanor’s Wedding Prep Shoot in the New Forest

Blimey it was a cold one this weekend! We met up with Andy and Eleanor for the first time for their wedding prep and after checking out their church together we made our way to the New Forest.

They’re getting married at Highfield Church in Southampton next month and later, making their way to The Domus in Beaulieu for their wedding reception.

Just down the road from Beaulieu we stopped off at Hawkhill Inclosure to go for a little wander. It was bitterly cold and a grey day with sleet rain but the winter Forest was still looking pretty and we tried to keep warm by climbing logs.

Stephanie & Patrick’s Wedding at The Three Tuns Inn, Dorset

Stephanie and Patrick made use of our Short & Sweet package for their wedding at The Three Tuns Inn in Bransgore.

As they live in Japan we only met in person for the first time two days before their wedding but through the magic of Skype we knew who we were looking for when we went to the pub for our last minute wedding planning.

Stephanie’s family had flown in from Canada and along with Patrick’s family all stayed nearby in Burley at The White Buck.

Things were kept really relaxed (after all, this was a Bride who had basically backpacked her way to her own wedding). There were no ‘Bride must not be seen before the wedding’ rules. In fact, Patrick often kept popping into the Bridal Suite to see how things were coming along. However, he wasn’t allowed to see the dress until Stephanie made her way downstairs.

After congregating in the bar and sorting buttonholes together the entire wedding party piled into taxis and made their way to Bransgore.

The plan was to have an outdoor ceremony but as rain threatened and spitted the ceremony took place in the barn. Celebrant David Hewitt took the helm and the intimate gathering included a hand-fasting.… Read Full Post

Amy & Neale’s Wedding at Burley Manor

Amy and Neale got married at Burley Manor in the New Forest with their ceremony and reception held in the barn and adjoining marquee.

The day was super colourful and the abundance of flowers provided by Jennifer Pointer Flowers acted as a lucky charm in pushing the rain clouds away (we only had one, albeit quite heavy, downpour despite heavy clouds looming for most of the day).

As well as having free access to ice creams provided by the Brock Ice trike, guests were served Afternoon Tea with a scrummy selection of cakes, sandwiches and scones. The beautiful flowers and decorations in the barn gave everything a lovely bright and Summer-y picnic feel.

To work off all those cakes and ice-creams Blue Juice Band provided a superb dancing soundtrack for the evening and entertained everyone with a great selection of tunes.

Amy & Neale’s Wedding Prep in The New Forest

We’ve been keeping an eye on the Burley Manor Hotel for a while now. It’s had rather a lovely re-fit and we’re lucky enough to be heading there soon to join Neale and Amy for their wedding. They showed us around the hotel and Esdaile Barn where their ceremony will take place.

Burley is one of my favourite places and I’ve always loved heading over there. The setting is beautiful and from the front of the hotel you can always spot plenty of deer. I also believe you can get the best ice cream in the world in Burley (New Forest Ice Cream whippies with lemon sherbet – yes please!). Needless to say I’m always happy heading over there.

After looking around the hotel together we made our way to the Burley Cricket Ground and woodlands around there for some photos.
