Sophie & Paul’s Wedding at St Stephen’s, Pamphill and Dean’s Court

Sophie and Paul’s wedding took place in Wimborne on a changeable Spring day.

Their ceremony was held at St Stephen’s Church in Pamphill followed by a reception at Deans Court.

Although for the most part the day was warm and sunny there was a constant threat of a Thunderstorm and there were a few downpours and as the reception went on, some dramatic rumbles. It was quite fitting really as Sophie’s Parents also got married during a dramatic lightning storm at the same church.

Sophie & Paul’s Wedding Prep in Studland

On a chilly Easter Weekend we met up with Sophie and Paul at the Sandbanks Ferry and headed over the water to Studland.

They’re getting married in just a couple of weeks and we are looking forward to spending the day with them at their church ceremony in Pamphill followed by a visit to an old favourite, Deans Court in Wimborne.

After a chat and a catch-up at Shell Bay (which incidentally had just opened its doors after a really lovely looking re-fit) we tried to keep warm wandering around the dunes before literally running for the ferry back before it got dark.

Robyn & Josh’s Wedding at Sopley Mill

On a sunny Monday, jammily sandwiched between wet and dreary Spring days Robyn and Josh had their wedding day at Sopley Mill near Christchurch.

We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days, starting with morning preps at Sopley Mill where Robyn and her Bridal Party multi-tasked decorating the venue before getting themselves ready. Meanwhile, Ian headed over to the Fisherman’s Haunt pub to meet Josh before the civil ceremony at the Mill.

After the ceremony we had some time to take a few group shots before wandering around the grounds with the Bride and Groom before their wedding breakfast.

Becky & James’ Wedding at Mortons House Hotel

A week after the snow cleared in Dorset Becky and James were lucky enough to hold their wedding on a Spring-like day at Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle.

We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days, heading up around noon to meet up for pre-wedding preps, taking in the ceremony and finally, wandering down to Corfe Train Station platform for a few photos before leaving the happy couple to enjoy their wedding breakfast and evening with family and friends.

Katrina & Wayne’s Portrait Shoot on Bournemouth Beach

Newlyweds Katrina and Wayne got in touch with us wanting some photos to celebrate their marriage to each other. They opted for a short Portrait Shoot on the beach in Bournemouth.

It was a bit of a blustery day with rain threatening the entire day. We had to cut our shoot in two halves to shelter in our cars from a heavy shower.

Our friends Amazing Face were on-hand that day for Katrina’s hair and make-up.

Josh & Emily’s Wedding in Swanage and Corfe Castle, Dorset

If there was ever a wedding to epitomise what our Short & Sweet wedding days are perfect for it’s Emily & Josh’s.

They got married on an autumn day in Swanage with a small number of family and friends and we tagged along for a couple of hours.

Popping in to see Josh in his holiday cottage on the way we started coverage during the wedding ceremony at Holy Spirit & St Edward’s church before making way to Mortons House Hotel in Corfe Castle for their drinks reception.

Emily and Josh wrapped up their wedding day by tea-time and spent their evening enjoying some peace and quiet in their pretty little holiday cottage in the shadow of Corfe Castle.

After their meal we walked down together before we went home to take some photos on the platform of the Swanage Railway station. Sadly, the steam train had been cancelled for the day but this may have been a blessing in disguise as it meant there were no crowds and we had the freedom to wander and soak up the fabulous atmosphere.

Ali & Helen’s Wedding at Poole Guildhall & Shell Bay, Studland

Helen and Ali had us along for one of our Short & Sweet days recently taking in their morning preps, wedding ceremony and drinks reception. The morning started off with bridal preps at the lovely Hotel Du Vin in Poole, where we worked alongside our friends Amazing Face.

Their ceremony took place at Poole Guildhall just a short drive away from the hotel. The morning had been lovely and sunny but as soon as Helen and her Bridesmaid’s opened the door to walk down the aisle to “Here Comes The Sun” the heavens opened and it absolutely poured it down.

It was so torrential entire wedding party had to squeeze in to the bottom floor of the open top bus to take the over the Sandbanks Ferry to Studland as the bus to the stairs acted as a waterfall. It took everyone really by surprise and hadn’t been forecast at all but was a fun and memorable moment.

Ali and Helen had a drier ride in Dorset Dub Hire’s VW Camper sipping champagne to Shell Bay Restaurant with a brief stop at Evening Hill along the way.

After a bit of drinks reception we then made our way over to the beach at Studland for a few photos of the newlyweds before leaving them to enjoy their food and the rest of their day overlooking Brownsea Island.… Read Full Post

Ali & Helen’s Wedding Prep Shoot in Studland

We took an early evening adventure over on the Sandbanks Ferry to meet up with Helen and Ali who are getting married next month.

They’re having us along for the ride for one of our Short & Sweet days. We’ll be there from bridal preps at Hotel Du Vin in Poole before heading over to The Guildhall for their ceremony and reception at Shell Bay Restaurant and Bistro in Studland.

The evening shoot was lovely and we enjoyed some great light, wandering up and down the dunes. It was also great to see inside the restaurant for the first time – we’ve always wondered what it’s like there and the views are unbeatable.

Clem & Ben’s Wedding at St Nicholas Church & Harry Warren House, Studland

We can’t think of a wedding party better suited to deal with such a bonker’s British Summer’s day. We spent a large part of it (sometimes unsuccessfully) dodging heavy showers with thick black clouds. But no sooner had we resigned ourselves to snuggling in the marquee the sun would make an appearance and tempt everyone out for impromptu races and deckchair sitting again.

A spot of rain wasn’t going to hold back Clem and her bridal party walking from The Pig on the Beach where they stayed and got ready in the morning, through the little country lanes to St Nicholas where their ceremony took place.

Led by a fiddler procession the wedding party made their way to Harry Warren House for fun and frolics where their reception was held.

Making the most of the location the wedding had a seaside theme with carefully crated details and Clem’s hand-painted peep-through.

Later on, when the clouds cleared for good, we all made our way down to the beach to mess around by the water before heading back up for dancing and chips in the marquee.

Nicola & Martin’s Wedding at Highcliffe Castle

Nicola and Martin’s Mid-Week Wedding took place in Christchurch, Dorset with a ceremony and reception at Highcliffe Castle.

First of all, both the bride and groom stayed over at the Lord Bute in Highcliffe with Nicola and her bridesmaids having the luxury of getting ready in their amazingly spacious Bridal Suite. Morning preps were taken care of by the expert hair and make-up styling of Laura Mackenzie and Tara Sanger.

We managed to get through a whole day without rain but it was a very blustery day – we almost got blown away on the beach and had to abandon our shoot down there for fear of ending up on the Isle of Wight, instead taking shelter around the castle grounds.

There were some pretty details throughout the day with the wedding taking on a bit of a literary theme. We were very impressed by the brilliant cake rustled up by Nicola’s Dad. Although I got a bit stressed playing the Wed-Libs game dotted around the tables… I realised I needed to swot up on my Verbs, Adjectives and Nouns. The shame.

Chris & Emily’s Wedding at Upton House and Sandbanks Hotel, Poole

We’ve had a bit of a wet and unseasonal peak Summer week of weddings. All of them have been by the seaside and have either been incredibly windy or very wet. Luckily for us though, we’ve been in the company of some great couples who haven’t been afraid to get out, arm themselves with umbrellas or entire cans of Elnette to make the most of their day.

Chris and Emily’s wedding set the trend. Their day was held in Poole with a ceremony at Upton House in Upton Country Park followed by a reception at The Sandbanks Hotel.

The day started with Emily getting ready at the hotel with the help of Amazing Face taking car of hair and make-up.

A little drive away the ceremony was held at Upton Country Park followed by a short drinks reception. We made use of the excellent scope of the house for photos before the rain set in for the day.

The wedding party travelled to the Sandbanks Hotel by bus (one of my old school buses no less – the distinctive Reg plate was a dead give-away and made me chuckle. To be honest, I’m surprised it’s still road-worthy the way we used to treat it back in the day!).… Read Full Post
