Chris & Emma’s Wedding at The Master Builders, Beaulieu

Back to the New Forest we headed for Chris & Emma’s wedding at The Master Builders and for once this year there wasn’t a brolly in sight.

It was a beautiful, still and peaceful Summer’s day down by the Beaulieu River.

The morning started with Emma and her bridal party getting ready a short hop away at Bailey’s Hard with a cool Riverside Retreat cabin housing the bridesmaids. Meanwhile Chris and his Groomsmen got ready in one of the cottages at Buckler’s Hard.

Emma and Chris chose to have a ceremony inside the Master Builders with Celebrant Jacqueline Justice leading the proceedings and keeping everything laid-back and personal.

With a potent smelling home brew as their table favours lining stomachs the evening got off to a bang with plenty of dancing and spinning. The band were the exceptional Brando – a bunch of very talented musicians with an incredible full sound.

Emma & Ben’s Wedding at The Master Builders

Emma and Ben’s wedding was held at The Master Builders at the weekend. It was a double ceremony bonanza. All hopes were placed on the main ceremony, conducted by their friend, being held outside. Immediately after this, the marriage was made legal by visiting Registrars and a second, smaller ceremony held inside the venue.

Despite quite a downpour near where Emma was getting ready in the morning, the weather luckily held off over Buckler’s Hard and Plan A was put into place!

Whilst the second ceremony took place many of of the guests enjoyed a drinks reception outside, shortly followed by the Bride and Groom.

Being keen skiers there was a bit of a summer alpine theme to the day with sledges propping up flower pots and old skis making up the frame for the seating plan. Guests were also treated to hot chocolate and cake early on in the day, with speeches held in the early evening.

Dinner was served in a large marquee and we were impressed with how much space there was, previously only ever attending weddings there held inside.

For the evening reception guests gathered back indoors and danced the night away to the tunes of Atlantica.… Read Full Post

Georgia & Toby’s Wedding at Barford Park

Georgia and Toby got married at the weekend at Barford Park near Salisbury in Wiltshire. It was our first visit to this venue and we took in the ceremony and drinks reception for one of our Short & Sweet days.

The barn is an excellent choice for those keen on a DIY wedding with plenty of scope for decoration and really making the place your own.

We began our day by meeting both the Bride and Groom ahead of travelling to the barn. Georgia got ready with her bridesmaids and parents in Lymington while Toby met up with his Groomsmen and guests at the hospitable Borough Café in Downton.

Their thoughtful and personal ceremony was conducted by Geraldine Bown, a family friend and Inter-Faith Minister. As well as a hand-fasting Georgia and Toby also included a Sunflower-Exchange in their vows.

After such a washout of a wedding prep shoot, we were of the mind that no weather could be as bad as when we met up previously. And indeed it wasn’t. However, after arriving at the barn under blue skies the rain soon rolled in shortly after the ceremony and set in for the day. Oh well… at least everyone was able to arrive under a beautiful Spring sky.… Read Full Post

Jo & Ricky’s Wedding at Sopley Mill

We joined Jo & Ricky for their wedding day at Sopley Mill which took place just before Bonfire Night.

It was a classic Autumn day and really what you would expect from November – cold and wet. But there’s always something special and cosy about a seasonal wedding.

Luckily, with three floors of the Mill to explore and call their own the guests were happily tucked up inside for the most part. Although the scope for venturing around the grounds for photos was short-lived we were happy the rain stopped just when we needed it to (and Jo’s friend was happy to lend her some boots to save her pretty shoes in the mud).

The ceremony was conducted by the Bride and Groom’s friend, Rahul who did a great job as Celebrant.

Sadly, Rhubarb the cat wasn’t able to be invited. But she did have a great time playing with my shoes and laces during the morning preparations at Jo & Ricky’s home.

Stephanie & Patrick’s Wedding at The Three Tuns Inn, Dorset

Stephanie and Patrick made use of our Short & Sweet package for their wedding at The Three Tuns Inn in Bransgore.

As they live in Japan we only met in person for the first time two days before their wedding but through the magic of Skype we knew who we were looking for when we went to the pub for our last minute wedding planning.

Stephanie’s family had flown in from Canada and along with Patrick’s family all stayed nearby in Burley at The White Buck.

Things were kept really relaxed (after all, this was a Bride who had basically backpacked her way to her own wedding). There were no ‘Bride must not be seen before the wedding’ rules. In fact, Patrick often kept popping into the Bridal Suite to see how things were coming along. However, he wasn’t allowed to see the dress until Stephanie made her way downstairs.

After congregating in the bar and sorting buttonholes together the entire wedding party piled into taxis and made their way to Bransgore.

The plan was to have an outdoor ceremony but as rain threatened and spitted the ceremony took place in the barn. Celebrant David Hewitt took the helm and the intimate gathering included a hand-fasting.… Read Full Post

Abi & Andy’s Wedding at Deans Court

Abi and Andy’s day took place in the grounds of Deans Court and it couldn’t have been a more perfect setting for a still and warm Summer’s Day.

Opting for the excellent Celebrant, Diana Saxby to conduct the ceremony meant the wedding could take place outdoors with guests facing the lake.

Abi got ready just a stone’s throw away at Deans Court’s own Georgian , 7-bedroom Gate House. It was a real treat to be able to explore this place in the morning, having eyed it up several times at other weddings and whilst pottering around the Squash Court – it’s a wonderful place.

The wedding breakfast and evening took place in the marquee kitted up with lovely rustic details, polished off by a superb ‘Naked Cake’ from Miss Ingredient and classic, pretty flowers from Jen Poynter.

We’d got a little insight into the decor of the wedding ahead of the day as Ian also designed Abi and Andy’s on-the-day Swash and Fold stationery.

Kate and Alex’s Wedding at Rempstone Farm, Corfe Castle

Family and friends from Brazil and New Zealand made their way to a field in Dorset for Kate and Alex’s wedding at a friend’s farm – Cedar Organic near Corfe Castle.

Their ceremony was conducted by a Pastor in the luscious outdoors of the farm. A lovely Tipi from the folks at World Inspired Tents provided the setting for the reception.

This really was a hands-on wedding. Many friends helped on the day to ensure the day ran smoothly taking on a number of jobs including floristry, bar-keeping, cocktail making and Toast-Mastering. They made an excellent job of it.

Jenny and Duncan’s Humanist Wedding at Studland Bay House

Following on from their legal, civil ceremony the day before at Swanage Town Hall, Jenny and Duncan’s celebrations really got into full swing for their Humanist Ceremony and reception at Studland Bay House.

Despite it being a fairly grey, sea mist-swirling kind of day, it was dry enough to make the most of the outdoors and the ceremony took place looking out over the sea and Old Harry Rocks. Guests were seated looking out over the cliff too with an official Celebrant conducting the ceremony.

Jenny and Duncan had full reign over the house for the weekend and had spent the evening after their civil ceremony celebrating and getting all of the final preps together.

Other than the ceremony and the drinks reception the main party was held in a marquee attached on to the side of the house. There were plenty of lovely decorations, including boat table centres to embrace the seaside location with ice-cream, a strawberry “naked cake”, a delicious wedding breakfast and a stack of cheese to keep the guests full.

In the evening guests were treated to choreographed First Dance by Jenny and Duncan. And when they weren’t filling the dance floor they were out playing with sparklers in the garden.… Read Full Post

Adam and Gemma’s Humanist Wedding at Stockbridge Farm Barn

Adam and Gemma worked so hard to create a fun-filled wedding party at Stockbridge Farm Barn.

The day was packed full of oodles of handmade prettiness. From streams and streams of bunting, the wedding cake itself (the Bride, Gemma makes her own characterful cakes), a brilliant afternoon fete to entertain the guests with Hook The Duck, Hoopla, Splat the Rat and a Coconut Shy to a wonderful, wallpapered photo booth wall, adorned with shots from their wedding prep shoot.

Having bagged themselves a Celebrant in a competition, the legal bits were done and dusted on a different day with their day at Stockbridge Farm being a Humanist Ceremony. So, instead of signing the legal register at the barn Adam and Gemma wrote messages to each other in their guestbook.

Needless to say, with such an enthusiastic and friendly crowd it was a lovely day in middle of the Dorset countryside. And we got to hook ducks during our break whilst everyone was tucking into their meal. Brilliant.

Here are some photos from their day…
