Robyn & Joshua’s Wedding Prep at Hengistbury Head

Robyn and Josh are getting married in early 2018 and we’ll be joining them at Sopley Mill for one of our Short and Sweet days.

On a bit of a chilly November day we met up at Hengistbury Head for a chat about their wedding, a cup of tea and a walk down to the beach huts for some photos.

Although we’ve been down there quite a lot this year for shoots and walks I think this is the first time we’ve ventured down in the Autumn. It’s about a 20 minute walk down to the very end of the spit but that walk takes you through some lovely woodland. We stopped there on the way back for a couple of snaps among the fallen leaves.

Katrina & Wayne’s Portrait Shoot on Bournemouth Beach

Newlyweds Katrina and Wayne got in touch with us wanting some photos to celebrate their marriage to each other. They opted for a short Portrait Shoot on the beach in Bournemouth.

It was a bit of a blustery day with rain threatening the entire day. We had to cut our shoot in two halves to shelter in our cars from a heavy shower.

Our friends Amazing Face were on-hand that day for Katrina’s hair and make-up.

Ross & Nicola’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Hengistbury Head

Ross and Nicola are getting married next month with a church ceremony at St Michael and All Angels Church in Hinton Admiral and a wedding reception at Barford Park.

We’ve had a little bit of a heads up as to how their wedding day’s going to pan out as they asked Ian to design their wedding invitations over at Swash and Fold. They have some great plans lined up for their day, making use of the barn and its excellent scope for a DIY wedding.

After not having much luck with the weather lately we were positively ecstatic at being able to wander in the late afternoon Spring sunshine and around the beach huts at Hengistbury Head.

Jo & Ricky’s Wedding at Sopley Mill

We joined Jo & Ricky for their wedding day at Sopley Mill which took place just before Bonfire Night.

It was a classic Autumn day and really what you would expect from November – cold and wet. But there’s always something special and cosy about a seasonal wedding.

Luckily, with three floors of the Mill to explore and call their own the guests were happily tucked up inside for the most part. Although the scope for venturing around the grounds for photos was short-lived we were happy the rain stopped just when we needed it to (and Jo’s friend was happy to lend her some boots to save her pretty shoes in the mud).

The ceremony was conducted by the Bride and Groom’s friend, Rahul who did a great job as Celebrant.

Sadly, Rhubarb the cat wasn’t able to be invited. But she did have a great time playing with my shoes and laces during the morning preparations at Jo & Ricky’s home.

Jo & Ricky’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Hengistbury Head

Jo and Ricky are getting married this Autumn at Sopley Mill and we’ll be joining them to capture the whole day. We love an Autumn wedding and being held the day before Bonfire Night we’re sure there will be plenty of fun ways to see in the earlier night!

We met up for a little walk down to Hengistbury Head to talk through their day plans and spend some time wandering around the beach huts.

Joanna & William’s Wedding Prep Shoot on Solent Beach, Bournemouth

We’re very excited to be heading back to Plush Manor next month for Joanna and William’s wedding. Their whole day is going to be spent there and it’s such a brilliant venue. We were pleased to hear they’re going to be making full use of all of its special nooks and crannies. We had such a great time when we were last there.

We met up at the weekend to talk through timings, just before the weather got crazy warm and we went for a little walk on Solent Beach near Bournemouth and up on the cliff.

Rachel & Paul’s Wedding at Beach Weddings Bournemouth

The crowds gathered along Bournemouth Prom to greet Rachel and her Bridal Party as she made her way to the wedding on Bournemouth Beach. It was a fun journey to make, down the cliff lift with views over towards Bournemouth Pier and the wedding marquee.

Paul and his Groomsmen had already made the walk down the prom to great guests and await the bride.

Rachel and Paul’s ceremony and afternoon reception took place at Beach Weddings Bournemouth where a seaside theme was an absolute necessity. The afternoon was perfect and it was warm enough for the bride to kick off her shoes and spend the day bare foot. Guests enjoyed eating ice creams and going for a paddle and standing proud in the corner of the marquee was a seaside wedding cake expertly made by one of Rachel and Paul’s friends.

After food everyone boarded a couple of land trains to take them towards Poole for an evening buffet and drinks in Alum Chine. At one point in the journey the two trains performed a Noddy Train ballet and both looped together spinning us round and round about five or six times. We were probably all only going about 5mph but it was unexpectedly disorientating and an absolute hoot!… Read Full Post

Rachel & Paul’s Wedding Prep Shoot on Bournemouth Beach

We met up with Rachel and Paul last week on a rather windswept day. They’d spent the day at the seaside wedding planning for next month.

They’re getting married and having their afternoon reception at Beach Hut Weddings on Bournemouth Beach. Considering we could easily walk to this venue from our home it’s ludicrous this place has passed us by until now. After a day on the sand they’re planning to enjoy their evening reception at Edge Restaurant along the prom.

Emma and Colin’s Wedding at Richmond Hill United Reformed Church and The Italian Villa

We took in a fair few places for Emma and Colin’s Wedding. Things started over in Hamworthy with Emma’s bridal preps taking place at her Mum and Dad’s home along with close family members and her bridesmaids.

Meanwhile, after some last minute preparations at Colin’s parent’s home the groomsmen enjoyed their time before the ceremony at The Dancing Jug in the centre of Bournemouth.

Despite a promising blue sky in the morning the day was a little bit damp and gloomy. Good job then that the wedding had so many colourful details including bright coral bridesmaids dresses.

After the church ceremony at the Richmond Hill United Reformed Church just off Bournemouth Square everyone made their way to the Italian Villa at Compton Acres where they spent the rest of the day celebrating and eating Emma’s homemade fudge and her sister’s impressive first wedding cake.

Pip and Andy’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Solent Beach

We met up with Pip and Andy on a warm Summer’s evening last week to take some prep photos on the beach. We whipped off our shoes and went for a paddle at the same time.

These two are getting married in August at the grand Cheam School in Hampshire after a church ceremony nearby.

Pip is a rather talented Photo Stylist by profession (no pressure, then!) and we’ve seen some great Pinterest boards sent over to give us a gist of what’s in store for the day.

Here are some photos from our shoot at Solent Beach…

Sarah and James’ Wedding at Victoria Park Methodist Church and Key West, Bournemouth

Sarah and James got married last weekend and we couldn’t have hoped for a more pleasant start to our wedding season with such a lovely, kind crowd.

Pretty much everyone had travelled especially for the day, including Sarah and James who live in Birmingham. Bournemouth was a spot picked for the special day as it was an old uni destination of Sarah’s. Whilst she was living down here Sarah attended Victoria Park Methodist Church regularly and so, this was the obvious choice for the wedding ceremony. However, in an extra special twist, the ceremony was to be lead by Sarah’s Dad who took the service and did a perfect job.

The Chocolate Boutique Hotel played host to the bridal preps in the morning. The abundance of free sweet treats played a part in this choice and provided a good accompaniment to breakfast Buck’s Fizz.

Sarah and James put up with appalling weather during their Engagement Shoot the last time they came down to Bournemouth and we were so happy they had much better luck for their wedding. The report at the start of the day was extremely dire but with every hour the rain kept getting pushed further back. Just another example of why it’s absolutely pointless getting obsessed over wedding reports before your big day.… Read Full Post

Emma and Tom’s Wedding Prep on Bournemouth Pier

We met up with Emma and Tom the blustery weekend just gone for their prep shoot. Bournemouth Pier is a special place to them as it played a part in the day they got engaged.

They’re getting married next month in Studland, Dorset with a ceremony at St Nicholas Church and a reception afterwards at Harry Warren House.

It was mega windy but we made our way right down to the end of the pier and on the beach. They must have been freezing and they definitely deserved their Harry Ramsden’s Fish and Chip Supper before their drive back to Warwickshire.
