This was a first for us; Our first Hindu wedding ceremony, first two-day wedding and our largest at around 300 guests.
Ali and Gary celebrated both days at Northbrook Park in Farnham, Surrey with a Hindu ceremony on the Sunday and a Civil ceremony the following day.
We were very excited and honoured to be part of both days. It was a real treat to experience a Hindu ceremony for the first time and there were so many wonderful sights, sounds and smells. Our camera bags still smell of incense!
A Hindu Ceremony starts very early in the morning, so we were there bright and breezy to capture all the important preparations at the venue’s cottages. According to the ladies who helped Ali get ready in the morning, it’s not uncommon for them to have to set off 3am. Blimey.
There was a lot to capture in the morning. As well as the usual bridal preps there were some important rituals for Gary including a hat fitting by his Dad and a prayer and blessing from his aunts. Afterwards, the ceremony took place in the venues Orangery, led by an Iyer priest.
Here are some photos from their colourful day. Look out for Ali’s change of saree, the presentation of the wedding necklace (the most important part of a Hindu ceremony) and the exchange of flower garlands.
