Bikes, Beach, Bags and Bournemouth

After a weekend working away from home we pootled our way into town yesterday for a spot of shopping, an optician’s appointment and a coffee. The quickest way into Bournemouth for us is along the prom and if it’s not pouring with rain (and the Council have been kind enough to rid the path of sand dunes) we like to ride our bikes.

We got ourselves a Fujifilm x100 recently and have been playing around with some stills photos but had never explored the video option other than take a couple of shaky films of our hamsters. It was a lovely, sunny day yesterday so we made a little home movie as we carried about our business.

The video on the x100 is by no means perfect and we’re still getting the hang of how to get the best out of it. It’s a bit of a menace for focusing and does a weird, strobing effect when it’s scared by bright sunlight. But we’re quite fond of its little quirks and eccentricities.

Have you ever tried to film whilst riding a bike? It’s difficult!

Update: Sadly, both of our bikes were stolen today (3rd Dec, 2011). Heartlessly snatched from the side of the Imax, Bournemouth whilst chained up. This is a long shot but if anyone sees these distinctive and much-loved bikes around town we would be so thankful if you’d get in touch with us letting us know where and/or with whom – thank you! x
