Caroline and Matt’s Wedding at The Kingscote Barn, Gloucestershire

001-kingscotexmas

On Christmas week we made our way up to the Cotswolds to join Caroline and Matt for their wedding at The Kingscote Barn in Tetbury., Gloucestershire.

Christmas weddings are always really special. Everyone’s in the party mood, pleased to get out of the house and away from bad telly to see their friends and family.

Thankfully, the weather was a little kinder than their prep shoot a few weeks before. We stayed over in Tetbury the night before and the drive to the barn in the morning was really something special. The car was completely frozen shut but the frost on the hills and the sparkle of ice on such a beautiful sunny morning was what you’d hope for a wedding in the Cotswolds.

Being in a bit of a valley however, meant the venue was susceptible to freezing fog which rolled in later on in the day (we didn’t take a smoke machine). It went down to a bitter -3 degrees centigrade but Caroline and Matt were keen to get outside for photos and were real troopers. The mulled wine on offer was really just the ticket.

Doing things a little differently, Caroline and Matt wanted a more intimate ceremony with just close family and friends without sacrificing a bigger party later on in the day. So, after they exchanged vows and we’d taken some group shots and some foggy couple shoot photos a couple of coach loads arrived with the rest of the guests ready for the wedding breakfast and evening disco.

Family Shoot at Chaffeymoor Grange

001-chaffey
A couple of weeks ago Lindsay at Chaffeymoor Grange asked us to pop over to take some portraits shots of her family. Her Mum had a very special birthday coming up and to celebrate her family were joining in on a big party. Making the most of everyone being together we helped them out with some group shots as a momento.

We are lucky enough to have worked at Chaffeymoor Grange a lot of the years and Lindsay and Rik have worked hard to make it one of the most welcoming and special venues. We have shot plenty of different styles of wedding there including an evening wedding. The beautiful Oak Room is always a pleasure to shoot in and as a special treat it was sparkling with Christmas decorations by the very talented florist, Sabine Darrall.

Here are just a few photos from our short evening shoot.

Jo & Ricky’s Wedding at Sopley Mill

045-sssopleynov16bb
We joined Jo & Ricky for their wedding day at Sopley Mill which took place just before Bonfire Night.

It was a classic Autumn day and really what you would expect from November – cold and wet. But there’s always something special and cosy about a seasonal wedding.

Luckily, with three floors of the Mill to explore and call their own the guests were happily tucked up inside for the most part. Although the scope for venturing around the grounds for photos was short-lived we were happy the rain stopped just when we needed it to (and Jo’s friend was happy to lend her some boots to save her pretty shoes in the mud).

The ceremony was conducted by the Bride and Groom’s friend, Rahul who did a great job as Celebrant.

Sadly, Rhubarb the cat wasn’t able to be invited. But she did have a great time playing with my shoes and laces during the morning preparations at Jo & Ricky’s home.

Jo & Ricky’s Wedding Prep Shoot at Hengistbury Head

001-sshengistprep_bb

Jo and Ricky are getting married this Autumn at Sopley Mill and we’ll be joining them to capture the whole day. We love an Autumn wedding and being held the day before Bonfire Night we’re sure there will be plenty of fun ways to see in the earlier night!

We met up for a little walk down to Hengistbury Head to talk through their day plans and spend some time wandering around the beach huts.

Liz & Shane’s Wedding at Mortons House Hotel & Swanage Railway

001-pcmortcorfe

Liz and Shane’s wedding took place at Morton’s House Hotel in Corfe Castle, Dorset. It was a small and intimate occasion with close family and friends (and their beautiful and well-behaved dog, Winnie).

We joined them for one of our Short & Sweet days starting with morning preps at the hotel and Corfe Castle National Trust tearooms right through to their arrival for tea and cake and the Birds Nest Buffet car at Swanage Train Station. It was such a wonderful, fun day.

In the middle of this celebration there was a fantastic train ride taking the wedding party by Swanage Railway Steam Train from Corfe to the reception venue. Shane had previously been a volunteer helping put this line back on the tourist map and Winnie had been on the train before and knew how to stamp her own ticket!

Along the way everyone enjoyed the view and a cheeky little tipple to toast the newlyweds.

Ross & Sarah’s Wedding at St Thomas’ Church & Royal Lymington Yacht Club

001-ablymyacht

Sarah and Ross’ Wedding Day took place in their home town of Lymington. Their ceremony was held at St Thomas’ in the centre of town followed by a reception at Royal Lymington Yacht Club, of which they’re members.

The weather really rolled in during the afternoon and by the evening it was a very windy and blustery day. Although we were so pleased it held off for them so the wedding party were able to make a grand entrance into the Club on their yacht, Scarlet Oyster. Ross and Sarah spend a lot of their summer with the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust taking children sailing who are in recovery from cancer or leukaemia, so this was a fitting part of the day.

Special mention should go to the staff at the Yacht Club who were lovely, super helpful and made us pots of tea to keep warm!

Charlotte and Ben’s Wedding at RNLI College, Poole

001-rnling
Charlotte and Ben’s Wedding Day took place at the RNLI College in Poole – a charity venue where money from every wedding goes towards training and helping save lives at sea. The whole day was spent at the College overlooking the water.

The day was a little damp in parts with some downpours throughout the day. Though that worked in our favour as it meant after dinner we were able to head over to Sandbanks for some photos on the beach without too much of a crowd (the week before it was so busy getting there would have been impossible).

Some great wedding suppliers helped the day run smoothly and it was great to work with Dorset Dub Hire and Amazing Face again. Special mention should also go to the band for the evening, Soulstar who put on an energetic show and got everyone moving on the dancefloor.

Joanna & Will’s Wedding at Plush Manor

015-plushlush
Joanna & Will’s wedding day took place at Plush Manor – a fantastic, unique venue in the middle of the Dorset countryside.

The grounds of Plush are sprawling with so many nooks and crannies to make use of, as well as a characterful manor house for guests to stay over and get ready in. There’s an outdoor space where the ceremony is able to take place and with blue skies (and a stack full of custom sunglasses being handed out) they were able to make the most of this intimate spot.

In the grounds there’s also a beautiful, retired church. Here, Jo and Will held their wedding breakfast and evening reception where they danced the night away.

K & Ant’s Wedding at Sopley Mill

001-sopleytolkien
This summer wedding took place at Sopley Mill on a beautiful, warm and sunny August day.

The Bridal party started their day at The Manor Hotel in Christchurch where the bridal party had their hair and make-up expertly put together by Laura Mackenzie and Tara Sanger.

A short drive away, the Groomsmen got ready at Sopley Mill, hopping over the road to the pub before greeting guests ready for their ceremony.

Downstairs, the room for the wedding breakfast was decorated as if it were a magical woodland with lots of fresh, green foliage put together by Beyond The Gate florists. The Tolkien-inspired wedding tables were really magical and the decorations were so thoughtful.

After dinner we took the opportunity to hop over to the bridge behind the mill for some photos whilst guests enjoyed the early evening sun. The setting that evening really was beautiful and horses meandered lazily in the hazy background.

We’ve worked with the groom’s family before, shooting his uncle’s wedding back in 2012. If Jess & Uncle Dan proved anything at that wedding it was how much their family like to dance, and once again the dance floor filled very nicely, encouraged by the Bride and Groom’s slow First Dance with a surprise, energetic ending!

Stephanie & Patrick’s Wedding at The Three Tuns Inn, Dorset

001-threetunsbuck

Stephanie and Patrick made use of our Short & Sweet package for their wedding at The Three Tuns Inn in Bransgore.

As they live in Japan we only met in person for the first time two days before their wedding but through the magic of Skype we knew who we were looking for when we went to the pub for our last minute wedding planning.

Stephanie’s family had flown in from Canada and along with Patrick’s family all stayed nearby in Burley at The White Buck.

Things were kept really relaxed (after all, this was a Bride who had basically backpacked her way to her own wedding). There were no ‘Bride must not be seen before the wedding’ rules. In fact, Patrick often kept popping into the Bridal Suite to see how things were coming along. However, he wasn’t allowed to see the dress until Stephanie made her way downstairs.

After congregating in the bar and sorting buttonholes together the entire wedding party piled into taxis and made their way to Bransgore.

The plan was to have an outdoor ceremony but as rain threatened and spitted the ceremony took place in the barn. Celebrant David Hewitt took the helm and the intimate gathering included a hand-fasting.

Thankfully, the rain held off for everyone to sit down to a Hog Roast dinner outside on their long picnic-style banquet table and after a spot of photos around the grounds and a crack at the Coconut Shy we left everyone to enjoy the rest of their day.

Caroline and James’ Wedding in Milborne Port & Stockbridge Farm Barn

002-milbstockbarn

Caroline and James’ wedding was a real treat, full of lots of personal details and a very friendly and energetic crowd. There was an awful lot of dancing and singing during this wedding and we were impressed by everyone’s stamina!

Oh.. before we carry on, a special mention should be made to James’ Mum who grew all the flowers for this wedding at home, by seed and made all the bouquets and buttonholes. We were blown away by her amazing garden and floristry skills.

Their ceremony took place in James’ home town, Milborne Port in Somerset at Milborne Port Parish Church. It was a service full of music with a worship band filling the church with sound and enthusiastic sing-a-longs.

After this everyone made their way over to the Dorset border to Stockbridge Farm Barn for the wedding reception.

Guests were treated to a Fish & Chip supper for the wedding breakfast (which went down exceptional well.. who doesn’t love fish and chips?) eaten from personalised trays. And for afters guests were encourage to take part in a Bake Off. There was so much cake of all different shapes, sizes and flavours and enough to fed everyone five times over!

To work off all those sponges and chips there was an excellent, fun Ceilidh dance in the evening, with music provided by local folk band Teasing the Cat.

For a bit of a dance break once the sun had dropped everyone had some fun with sparklers around the fire pit before heading back into the barn for the First Dance and disco.
